Run free along miles of empty beaches and undulating hills, following the paths of sure-footed cattle and fisherman as your trail. On the 3 day Jikeleza Jog from Kob Inn to Cintsa, competitors will cover 80kms of wild running terrain; an experience no runner should have to miss.
Held over a full moon weekend from the 17 – 21 October 2013, runners can take advantage of hard-pack beaches, lower chances of rain and comfortable daily temperatures. This year’s event is a limited-entry social ‘tour’ so there will be no timing, no prizes, or major sponsors; but the opportunity to traverse this stunning section of coastline with the camaraderie of like minded adventurers, and have all your back-up logistics taken care.
The tour is aimed at novice to intermediate trail runners. Each trail day would normally be two average hike days, so ‘fast walkers’ could manage the days, but if you wanted to get to the next hotel in time for lunch and an afternoon siesta, you best keep your running shoes on.
The route is unmarked and unmanned, but basic maps are provided and keeping the sea on your left will guide you to the finish each day. For safety and social reasons we prefer you enter as a team, but we will be accepting individual participants this year.
At the end of each day, you will overnight at the friendly Wild Coast hotels with tasty grub, hot showers and cold beers to look forward to.
Embrace the magic of the full moon and come run wild on this year’s Jikeleza Jog!
A little taste of what you can look forward to – thanks GO TRAIL!
